Poultry, Waterfowl, Field & Forest
The Poultry, Waterfowl, Field & Forest Competition brings together the region's finest birds, from prized poultry breeds to magnificent turkeys and elegant waterfowl.
This colourful and varied exhibition celebrates both heritage and modern breeds, with classes showcasing hard and soft feather varieties in all their splendour, whether cockerel or pullet.
The competition also demonstrates the dedication of our local breeders and their commitment to maintaining exceptional breed standards and variety.
What will spectators see?
Step into the Kele Pavilion to encounter a fascinating world of feathered excellence.
Marvel at the variety of colours, patterns, and sizes on display, from striking roosters to graceful waterfowl.
The exhibition even includes an egg competition and provides a unique opportunity for visitors to learn about different breeds from the enthusiastic exhibitors.
Aspiring judges can observe the hotly-contested Novice Judges Competition, while all visitors are invited to nominate your favourite chicken, duck or turkey in the People's Choice Award.
Whether you're a poultry enthusiast or simply curious, the Poultry, Waterfowl, Field & Forest Competition won’t disappoint, offering the public a great window into the rewarding world of poultry and waterfowl breeding and care.
How are the Poultry, WaterFowl, Field & Forest Competitions judged?
Entries are judged based on breed standards, overall appearance, feather quality, and condition.
Judges also consider the behaviour and temperament of the birds, as well as the care taken in their presentation.
Entering the 2026 Competitions
The Poultry, Waterfowl, Field & Forest competitions are held on Thursday 11 June, 2026.
Key dates
Nominations Close: 11.59pm Monday 1 June 2026.
Exhibit Delivery: Please deliver to the Kele Pavilion 12pm - 5pm on Wednesday 11 June or 6am - 8am on Thursday 11 June 2026.
Judging: Thursday 11 June 2026.
Exhibit Collection: Please collect from the Kele Pavilion between 2pm and 4pm on Friday 12 June 2026.
