NEW Education Program

Amelie Ecology Native Bee Workshops

Welcome to the Rockhampton Agricultural Show's newest initiative: the Agricultural Educational Program Pavilion!

Recognising the importance of agricultural education, we are committed to enhancing the educational content at the Rockhampton Show to provide children and adults with the opportunity to understand the role agriculture plays in everyday life.

While not every Australian grows up on a farm, we believe that everyone should have the chance to experience the hands-on learning that comes with caring for animals and the environment as well as growing their own food.

Through a blend of workshops, performances, and hands-on activities, our program aims to:

  1. Connect Agriculture with the Food System: We want to enhance understanding of food nutrition by illustrating the journey from farm to table. By adopting a deeper appreciation for where our food comes from and how it's produced, we empower individuals to make informed choices about what they eat.
  2. Empower the Community: Our program provides children and adults with a wide range of practical knowledge, including crop cultivation, animal management and biodiversity. Whether it's something as simple as composting, starting your own worm farm or learning where your food comes from, we aim to inspire and enable people to take an active role in their own food production.

Our exciting 2024 program features workshops, performances, and presentations, giving children and adults an opportunity to have a fun, hands-on experience while learning about how agriculture plays an essential role in their everyday lives. Highlights include immersive hands-on learning experiences, a Petting Zoo, and the captivating D'Aguilar Wildlife Experience.

Join us in the Robert Schwarten Pavilion for a fun filled day educating the next generation through our Agricultural Educational Program.
